When you consistently create valuable content and share; it helps to build your reputation as a helpful resource. And an added plus point would be that it helps you drive more traffic.

As per McKinsey & Company, “the 3 C’s of customer satisfaction” are “consistency, consistency, and consistency.” The research further states consistency is particularly important to forge a relationship of trust with customers. The same applies to good content marketing campaign.

So what types of content should you create?

Here are 6 types of content that will help you drive more traffic

1. Blog in a better way

If you have started a blog, it is better to do it in a far more better manner. As Neil Patel, one of the internet’s top marketers says – blog content still works, but a long form of content works better at every level. So instead of a 500-word blog which is so popular over the internet, choose an interesting topic, go deep and have at least 1,000 words with detailed data and information.

A better idea is to host an interview with an industry expert, and you have a unique piece of content ready. An even better idea would be to have content pieces of your experience, and there is nothing more unique than your own experience.

2. Infographic

If you want to reach your audience in a fun and quick way and help them learn about a topic in a visual way, Infographics can be a great way of communication. There are a number of different types of infographic styles, visualisation and flavours but the ultimate aim of the infographic should be to make them more shareable.

Following statistics support how infographics are of prime importance:

  • An infographic is 30 times more likely to be read than a purely textual article.
  • Infographics are “liked” and shared on social media 3X more than other any other type of content.
  • Infographics are liked 4x more than presentations, and 23x more than documents on SlideShare.
  • Infographics are shared 2x more than presentations, and 3x more than documents on other social networks, such as LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.
  • Infographics were the B2B content marketing tactic with the biggest increase in use, from 2015 to 2016, up from 50% to 58%.

3. Podcasts

Podcasts may not reach as many people as compared to a quiz or photo gallery, but to the people they reach, they are incredibly powerful. One of the best ways to create a real connection with your community podcasts is much more intimate than reading a blog. Many people make podcasts a part of their daily routine, as it accompanies them on their daily commute. Podcasts are also very easy to create, and you can make one with the audio software that comes with your computer.

A podcast episode can be recorded in far less time than writing an article or recording video. All you need is a decent microphone and a program for recording and editing your episodes, and you have everything you need to produce audio content.

4. Videos

A study from Marketing Sherpa says “videos attract 300% more traffic and nurture leads”.

A video is just not only about a moving picture but the words that you say or display. And if you want to create a video of your office tour or an explainer video of your product and service, all you need is to get the script right. Once you have made the video, you need to put it on YouTube and Vimeo, both great videos sharing sites which helps you to garner social signals for SEO and also improved results for video search itself.

Cisco projects that global internet traffic from videos will make up 80% of all internet traffic by 2019.

A good video does not come cheap. But you can start small, all with the help of video specialist or a camera crew which might cost a bit. And your videos need not be long. A good video can be of three to four minutes.

5. Ebook

Ebooks are a long packaged content which usually can be downloaded as a pdf, which are really helpful in establishing your authority in your field.

If you want to start an Ebook, you need to choose your topic. See that it is a subject which has a lot to talk about, as an Ebook should be around 10,000 words. Once you have decided for topic, decide on the chapters or subheadings. Your eBook should also be manageable pieces of text, where readers can easily skip ahead to the section that does not interest them.

A good Ebook should also have good illustrations, graphics and images, anything which supports your text in making content more.

6. Case Studies

A good case study should be an inspiring success story. A case study basically tries to explain how you solved a problem of a customer and helped him. When you want to create a case study, first write a summary of the study and preview of the outcome, that the client was facing. Write further the solution you have provided and discuss the results of your solution and ways it was successful. And end the case study, with a conclusion and also provide a call to action.

Case studies may not generate the highest number of leads directly, but if integrated within your sales and marketing process, can help in increasing your closing ratio.

Client case studies turned out to be most popular self-promotional content marketing tactic used by US marketing agency executives. 62.6% of eMarketer survey respondents say that they’re useful in generating leads.

Finally, the above mentioned 6 types of content will help you to engage an audience who will be interested in your business. But it’s again a trial and error method that will help you to find the perfect content format for your particular needs.

So all you need is to experiment with different content types to gauge how your audience responds which will help you further drive more traffic.
